Two visiting Italians failed to take account of Monaco’s sophisticated and almost omnipresent video surveillance when they stopped to share a line of coke on blvd. Albert 1 in January this year, according to local French-language daily Monaco Matin.

Not long after preparing a line or two of the white stuff – using the screen of a mobile phone – the two youngsters were intercepted by a police patrol, alerted and dispatched as a result of showing up on camera at four o’clock in the morning.

One of the culprits was found to be in possession of 0.15 grams, while the second had cannabis in his pocket. Appearing before the Monaco Criminal Court, they were fined 1,000 euros apiece and given suspended jail time of one month.
