Nine more cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Monaco, taking the total to 42, the Government announced on Friday evening. It represents the biggest increase in one day.
There was also more bad news from Italy, which recorded 919 new deaths from coronavirus over 24 hours, by far the worst day yet. The total death toll is now 9,134. The country’s National Health Institute had warned earlier in the day that infections have not yet peaked.
France on Friday, March 27, extended the lockdown for two weeks. It has also emerged that France’s death toll is probably higher than has been published. Twenty of the country’s Departements are running at least 24 hours behind in reporting deaths from the virus, according to Le Figaro. The official total of fatalities to date is 1,696.
Spain also reported its worst day, with a record 769 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total to 4,858 with a total of 64,059 infections.
The UK also recorded its worst 24 hours to 14:00, with 181 more fatalities and 2,921 new cases reported in the same period. The previous death record was 113, recorded yesterday. Prime Minister Johnson is among those who tested positive.
