Superyacht captains and electrical technical officers (ETOs) will have the opportunity to share their views on and experience of satellite connectivity during the Monaco Yacht Show in September, according to Inmarsat.

Inmarsat is holding a roundtable and lunch event – Don’t Lose Touch – How to Tap Into the Power of Onboard Satellite Connectivity – at ACREW’s exclusive Crew Lounge at La Rascasse on September 25. Inmarsat Maritime Market Development Director Les Shortall will start the discussion by revealing key trends – such as the significant predicted upsurge in large scale VSAT usage and spend in the next five years, and how the Internet of Things (IoT) and services like TV over IP streaming for guests are driving satellite communication growth.

The roundtable will also look at concerns about the current lack of cyber resilience within the superyacht industry. During an informal lunch, world record-breaking yachtsman Nick Moloney will relate his unique experience of on-board connectivity. All attending captains and ETOs will be offered a complimentary day pass for the yacht show, which runs from September 25-28 .
