The Principality’s Tourism and Congress Office is experimenting this summer with a seasonal tourist information office that uses only solar energy. The kiosk will operate for two months on the forecourt of the Grimaldi Forum.
With a floor area of 12.50 m2 once its solar panels are deployed, the Cubox or KSA, was manufactured in Austria. The solar panels provide enough energy to power a fridge and fan and charge even in the absence of sun. Ten minutes of sunshine is enough to charge the batteries to provide an hour of power. The Cubox produces enough energy for a family of four.
The Tourism Office operates five information booths in the summer season that complement the two permanent information points on the boulevard. des Moulins and at the train station. If the Cubox at Grimaldi Forum proves a success, more will be installed next year.
