AS Monaco has announced the signing of 19-year-old central defender Christian Mawissa from Toulouse FC on a five-year contract, extending until June 2029.
Born in 2005 in Saint-Jean-de-Verges, Mawissa began his football journey in the Occitanie region, playing for various local clubs before joining Toulouse FC in 2017 to complete his training. He has since developed into a promising talent, earning call-ups to France’s youth national teams (U17, U18, and U19). Notably, he was part of the French team that won the European Under-17 Championship in 2022.
Mawissa made his professional debut with Toulouse in December 2022 and enjoyed a strong 2023-2024 season, contributing to key victories against Lille and Paris Saint-Germain and participating in Toulouse’s European campaign.
At Monaco, Mawissa will wear the number 13 jersey and join fellow 2005-born players Eliesse Ben Seghir, Ritchy Valme, Lucas Michal, and Mayssam Benama, with whom he has played in France’s youth teams.
