Monaco is hosting the 19th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers Responsible for Sport, bringing together government representatives and sporting organisations for two days of discussions focused on making sport safer, healthier and more accessible to children…

Organised by the Council of Europe’s Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS) and the Prince’s Government, the conference forms part of Monaco’s Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

The gathering welcomes ministers responsible for sport from Council of Europe member states, alongside representatives of international sporting organisations, under the theme Safer and healthier sport for all children.

Proceedings began with a focus on stadium safety and the tenth anniversary of the Saint-Denis Convention, a Council of Europe treaty designed to improve safety, security and spectator services at football matches and other sporting events.

A presentation examining the Convention’s first decade highlighted progress in its implementation and the challenges still facing organisers, authorities and security services.

The discussions underline the importance of international cooperation in ensuring that major sporting events remain safe, welcoming environments for spectators and participants alike.
