Monaco’s adventurous Meerkats have completed another demanding charity challenge, this time crossing the Moroccan desert as part of the Rose Trek, combining physical endurance with fundraising for children and families in Lebanon…

Held during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the event brought together 466 participants for a three-stage orienteering challenge, covering approximately 20 kilometres on foot each day. Unlike conventional races, success depended not on speed but on navigation. Armed only with maps and compasses, participants had to locate checkpoints while following the shortest possible route across the desert, without GPS or mobile phones.

The Meerkats have become familiar faces through their annual charitable adventures, having previously participated in the Rallye des Gazelles and a challenge in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. This year’s efforts supported children and families in Lebanon through an international charitable organisation. Speaking to Monaco Info, team member Sylvie thanked the group’s loyal supporters and donors, whose contributions make their humanitarian activities possible.

Plans are already taking shape for 2027, when the Meerkats hope to expand their efforts into a collective challenge involving at least 11 participants. For the team, the experience was another opportunity to combine adventure, friendship and a commitment to helping those in need.
