Eleven employees dismissed from the Michelin-starred Le Grill restaurant at the Hôtel de Paris are challenging the circumstances of their dismissal, accusing Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) of disproportionate sanctions and unfair treatment…
As previously reported by News.MC, SBM launched disciplinary proceedings following an internal investigation into alcohol consumption during working hours, involving drinks belonging to the establishment. Fifteen employees were initially suspended, with eleven subsequently dismissed on Monday, October 26.
The dismissed workers acknowledged consuming alcohol but insisted the incidents occurred only after customers had left and the restaurant had closed to the public, according to Monaco Matin.

They also questioned the use of surveillance footage to gather evidence, alleging that proper procedures had not been followed. Union representatives criticised SBM’s decision to publicise the disciplinary action, arguing that the resulting publicity had damaged employees’ reputations and employment prospects.
Three of those dismissed are staff representatives whose cases will be considered by a special dismissal committee on Tuesday, November 3. Others are considering challenging their dismissals before the Labour Court.
The dispute has raised wider questions about workplace discipline, employee protections and the handling of internal investigations within one of Monaco’s most prominent hospitality groups.
