Behind the solemn ceremony marking Monaco’s National Day, a team of volunteer florists is preparing an elaborate display at the Cathedral of Monaco, with this year’s arrangements set to follow the theme “Like a Garden”.

The Garden Club of Monaco will once again be responsible for the cathedral’s floral decorations for the traditional Thanksgiving Mass and Te Deum, helping to shape the setting for one of the Principality’s most significant annual celebrations.

While the service, music and attending dignitaries attract public attention, the floral arrangements are the result of hours of work carried out largely behind the scenes. Members of the club contribute their time and expertise to develop designs, prepare sketches, organise materials and coordinate the teams responsible for installing the displays.

This year’s project will be overseen by Frédérique de Chambure and Rosella Zenere, with the garden-inspired theme guiding the arrangements throughout the cathedral.

The Garden Club of Monaco is presided over by Princess Caroline of Hanover, with Cecilia Casiraghi serving as vice-president. Through its work on the National Day decorations, the club continues a tradition combining floral artistry, voluntary service and community involvement.

Preparations are scheduled to begin on November 10, when members will meet at the Garden Club to review the designs and display structures before organising the teams. Work inside the cathedral will start at 8:30 am on November 17, with the installation due to be completed the following morning.

The club is inviting the public to discover more about the work involved in creating the decorations, offering a glimpse into the planning and craftsmanship that contribute to Monaco’s National Day celebrations.
