A 42-year-old Ukrainian national has been charged with manslaughter and failure to assist a person in danger following the death of Antoine de Massy, a first cousin once removed, of Prince Albert II…

Antoine de Massy’s body was discovered in a Monaco park on Sunday, October 25, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The suspect, who has lived in the Principality for approximately 30 years, was detained for questioning on Monday after investigators established that he had been in contact with the deceased on Boulevard du Larvotto.

On Wednesday, October 28, Monaco’s Attorney General, Stéphane Thibault, confirmed that a judicial investigation had been opened and assigned to an investigating judge, according to Monaco Matin.

The man reportedly denied the allegations during police questioning and subsequently declined to answer the investigating judge’s questions. He was formally charged with both offences, which prosecutors believe may relate to separate moments, and remanded in custody.

Investigators are continuing forensic examinations and other enquiries to establish the precise sequence of events leading to Antoine de Massy’s fatal fall. The accused remains presumed innocent while judicial proceedings continue.
