AS Monaco continued their strong start to the UEFA Conference League with a convincing 3-0 victory over SC Freiburg at the Stade Louis-II on Thursday, October 22, securing a second consecutive win in the competition.
Goals from Paris Brunner, Lamine Camara and Ansu Fati sealed the result for the Principality club, who produced an assured performance against their German visitors to maintain their perfect record in the league phase.
Filipe Luís’s side entered the fixture looking to bounce back from their recent Ligue 1 defeat to Lorient, and they made a positive start against a Freiburg team accustomed to competing at the highest level of German football.

Monaco gradually established their presence in the match, creating several promising opportunities during the opening half. Mamadou Coulibaly came close to breaking the deadlock in the 24th minute, volleying towards goal after Edan Diop delivered a well-timed pass, but Freiburg goalkeeper Mio Backhaus reacted quickly to deny him.
Backhaus was called into action again three minutes later when Paris Brunner tested him following a pass from Aleksandr Golovin. The German forward continued to threaten as Monaco searched for an opening, and his persistence eventually paid off just before half-time.
In the second minute of stoppage time, Brunner produced an impressive individual effort to put the hosts ahead. The forward lifted the ball over a defender before accelerating into the penalty area and finishing beyond Backhaus to give Monaco a deserved 1-0 advantage.
Freiburg responded positively after the interval and nearly found an equaliser within minutes of the restart. Monaco goalkeeper Lukáš Hrádecký produced an important double save in the 48th minute, denying Lukas Kübler after a corner created danger inside the penalty area.
The visitors continued to search for a breakthrough, with Kübler threatening again from a set-piece opportunity in the 62nd minute. However, Monaco remained organised defensively while looking to exploit spaces on the counter-attack.
The hosts eventually extended their lead in the 83rd minute. Flávio Nazinho helped initiate a quick attacking move, with Ansu Fati seeing his initial attempt saved by Backhaus. Lamine Camara reacted fastest to the rebound, firing the ball into the net to give Monaco some breathing room.
Fati then put the result beyond doubt in stoppage time, completing an impressive evening for the home side. Receiving a delivery from Camara, the Spanish forward controlled the ball before turning and sending a precise finish into the bottom corner in the 91st minute.
The late goals capped a clinical display from Monaco, who capitalised on their opportunities to secure all three points despite periods of pressure from the Bundesliga side.
The victory follows Monaco’s 2-1 away win against CSKA Sofia in their opening Conference League fixture, leaving the club with six points from their first two matches.
The result also provides a welcome boost following the defeat to Lorient in the French league, as Monaco look to build consistency across domestic and European competition.
Attention will now return to Ligue 1 before the Principality side resume their European campaign against Danish opponents FC Nordsjælland at the Stade Louis-II on November 5.
