Monaco-based venture capital firm Monte Carlo Capital has secured €13 million in the first fundraising round for its second investment fund, targeting emerging businesses in artificial intelligence, advanced technology and the space sector…

The company aims to raise €26 million for Fund II, having closed its first fund at more than €11 million in 2025. Founded in 2009 by Ian Sosso, Monte Carlo Capital specialises in backing promising startups at an early stage, particularly those developing technologies with significant commercial potential.

According to EU-Startups, the latest fund has already invested in five companies, with most investors from the original fund committing further capital. Sosso described the successful fundraising as a strong endorsement of the firm’s strategy, which focuses on identifying exceptional businesses early and investing alongside established international venture capital firms.

Monte Carlo Capital primarily targets companies at the Seed stage, although it also considers earlier ventures and more established startups seeking additional investment. Its portfolio includes StarCloud, a space technology company reportedly valued at approximately €2 billion, and Scout AI, operating in the defence technology sector.

The announcement reflects growing investor interest in emerging technologies across Europe.
