A six-metre-high manor occupied by a family of eccentric wizards is about to appear on Place du Casino, as Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) unveils its Halloween programme.

From Saturday, October 17, the Montecadabra family will move in, along with their butler, cat and bat. Passers-by will be able to watch their magical and disastrous experiments through the manor’s windows in a live show aimed at all ages, which runs until November 1. Monaco will be decked out in orange until Monday, November 2, with decorations across SBM venues and Promenade Shopping.

Adults are not left out. From Friday, October 23, SBM is running a series of themed nights. At Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, Bar Américain hosts a Día de los muertos evening on Saturday, October 31, with a DJ, dancers and makeup artists.

Buddha-Bar Monte-Carlo will be reworked in a pop-art style of green and pink from Wednesday, October 28 to October 31. Chef Eric Guillemaud’s Asian fusion cuisine will mix with pumpkin-inspired dishes, ahead of the Buddhalloween party on October 31, where costumes are expected.

At Casino Café de Paris, a Lucky Wheel offering prizes worth more than €100,000 will run from October 23 to November 1. On Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31, a DJ, live performances and a candy bar will keep things lively from 9.30pm to midnight, with a makeup artist on hand from 10pm on October 31.

For children, New Moods holds two events on Wednesday, October 28. “Halloween Magic” is for ages 4 to 7, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, with an illusionist and bubble show, face painting, temporary tattoos, a candy corner and a magic potion fountain. The “Halloween Bash” for ages 8 to 12 runs from 6pm to 9pm, with a DJ, a buffet of party bites and a soda bar.

Both cost €65 per child, with adults free, and children should come in costume and be accompanied by a responsible adult. Reservations are made on the SBM website.

A candy hunt will also run across the whole resort from Sunday, October 25 to November 1. Children staying at SBM hotels get themed breakfasts, in-room surprises and welcome gifts, and those aged 3 to 12 at Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo can join Halloween workshops in the Kids Room during the autumn half-term.

There is plenty to eat and drink too. Marlow serves a Halloween brunch in costume on October 31 and Sunday, November 1, from 11.30am to 3.30pm, with a face painter and candy giveaway on the Sunday. The Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort hosts a brunch in the Calypso area on November 1, with unlimited Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut Champagne, a candy bar, face painting and magic tricks.

Café de Paris Monte-Carlo holds a special lunch on October 31, with face painters and bags of candy for guests. From October 31 to November 1, Cedric Grolet Monte-Carlo sells his take on a Halloween pumpkin as a pastry, while stocks last.

At Gustave, the new bar at Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo, a Blood & Bubbles cocktail is on the menu from Monday, October 26 to November 1.
