Monaco’s overnight medical service has recorded 1,600 home visits during its first year, providing residents with access to doctors when regular surgeries are closed…

As reported by Monaco-Matin, the Médecins de Garde Monaco service, launched on October 1, 2025, has averaged four to five consultations every night, operating between 7pm and 7am, including weekends and public holidays.

Health Minister Christophe Robino welcomed the figures, saying the initiative had clearly responded to a need among residents.

The service currently involves 23 doctors, averaging 37 years of age, with approximately two-thirds practising in Monaco and the remainder working in neighbouring communities. Each undertakes one or two overnight shifts monthly.

Doctors travel in a specially equipped vehicle carrying essential medication and an electrocardiogram connected to Monaco’s Cardio-Thoracic Centre. Patients of all ages are treated, with children accounting for approximately 25 percent of consultations.

The service also assists Monaco’s police by conducting medical examinations at Public Security headquarters, particularly during major events.

Residents requiring a doctor overnight can call 116 117, preferably from a landline.

Although its impact on emergency department attendance remains unproven, officials believe the service provides valuable additional healthcare coverage.
