Monaco’s Direction des Affaires Culturelles is bringing rock music to a decidedly unconventional setting on Saturday, October 3, transforming the Troparium at Auditorium Rainier III into a temporary festival-style stage for the return of Kaléido, the Principality’s cultural programme dedicated to younger audiences.
The evening opens with a DJ set and food trucks from 6pm, before California indie rock outfit The Sophs take the stage from 8:30pm, bringing a blend of pop-punk, funk, blues and 1990s-inspired sound to the Principality. The band has been steadily building international attention since releasing their debut album, Goldstar.
Supporting them is French pop-rock duo Copycat, formed by cousins Apolline and Zoé after the pair began writing music together during a family meal. Their debut EP, Morning Routine, explores themes familiar to life in your twenties, from relationships and body image to nights out and everyday struggles.
The event follows on from Kaléido’s summer concert featuring French singer Styleto at Fort Antoine, continuing the programme’s broader mission of introducing new artistic and musical trends to Monaco’s younger residents. Organisers describe the aim as recreating the intimate atmosphere of a small music festival within one of the Principality’s more traditional cultural venues.
