His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco visited the 67-metre hybrid yacht M/Y Dagger at the Monaco Yacht Show on Thursday, September 24, marking the vessel’s official entry into the fleet of yachts certified under the SEA Index environmental programme.
Built by Italian shipyard Benetti, Dagger is a B.Now 67M featuring hybrid propulsion technology. The yacht was presented to the Sovereign during the 35th edition of the Monaco Yacht Show, where he visited the vessel in his capacity as President of the Yacht Club de Monaco.
The SEA Index certification forms part of an ongoing collaboration between Benetti and the Yacht Club de Monaco aimed at encouraging more sustainable and responsible practices across the superyacht sector.
Developed by the Yacht Club de Monaco, the SEA Index provides an assessment of the environmental impact of superyachts, with its certification verified and issued by Lloyd’s Register. The system evaluates emissions using measurable data and is designed to help owners and industry professionals assess and improve the environmental performance of their vessels.
Dagger’s hybrid system combines conventional propulsion with electric technology and a battery system, allowing the yacht to adapt its energy use to different operating conditions. The technology is also designed to reduce noise and vibrations while maintaining the performance and comfort expected of a large luxury yacht.
The yacht is one of the headline vessels on display at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, which is bringing around 120 superyachts to Port Hercule for its 35th edition, running from Wednesday, September 23 to Saturday, September 26. The B.Now 67M is being exhibited by Benetti at Quai des États-Unis.
The certification of Dagger adds another Benetti yacht to the SEA Index programme. The 67-metre M/Y Kasper 7, also built by Benetti, previously became one of the yachts to receive the certification, highlighting the shipyard’s continued involvement with the Monaco-based initiative.
For the Yacht Club de Monaco, the SEA Index forms part of its wider “Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting” initiative, which seeks to promote innovation and measurable environmental improvements within the yachting industry.
The arrival of Dagger at the Monaco Yacht Show therefore provides a prominent example of how hybrid propulsion and other technologies are increasingly being incorporated into the latest generation of superyachts.
