New train timetable disrupts Monaco-Menton line through November 8

Rail travel between Monaco and Menton entered a new phase on Monday, August 31, as engineering works on the line bring a modified timetable that will remain in place through Sunday, November 8, with the stations of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and Carnolès facing the most significant disruption.

The revised schedule affects services specifically in the Monaco-to-Menton direction, with departures and arrivals no longer spread evenly across the day. Some train services will continue to run, mainly during the morning and afternoon periods, while replacement bus services will operate at other times to fill the gaps.

According to timetables published by SNCF, the first train from Monaco to Menton departs at 6:46am, reaching Roquebrune-Cap-Martin at 6:57am, Carnolès at 7:01am, and Menton at 7:04am.

For the periods covered by replacement buses, specific stops have been designated, some of which don’t line up directly with the train stations themselves. In Monaco, buses bound for Menton depart from the short-stay parking area outside the SNCF station, with departures at midday, 4:25pm and 5:25pm. In Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, the replacement bus stop is located on Avenue de la Côte d’Azur, at the “2e Escalier” stop on Line 600, roughly a seven-minute walk from the train station. In Carnolès, the stop is on Avenue Louis Pasteur, at “Casernes,” around five minutes from the station. All replacement buses terminate at Menton’s bus station.

It’s worth noting that these changes apply only to the Monaco-to-Menton direction, travellers heading the opposite way, from Menton toward Monaco and Nice, are not affected by this particular timetable change.

SNCF has cautioned that schedules tied to the works may still be adjusted as construction progresses, with updates published through its usual passenger information channels. Travellers, particularly those relying on the affected stations, are advised to check the latest timetable information before heading to the station, especially for journeys falling within the hours covered by replacement bus services.
