One of Monaco’s longest-established hotels has entered a new era after an extensive renovation that has transformed the Hôtel de France in the heart of La Condamine…
The 28-room boutique hotel, located on Rue de la Turbie, has been completely refurbished by three entrepreneur friends who purchased the property in 2025 after initially being brought in to carry out maintenance work. Although construction is their core business rather than hospitality, they recognised the hotel’s potential and decided to restore it whilst preserving its welcoming character.
The ambitious three-month project modernised everything from the reception area and communal spaces to every guest room, all whilst the hotel remained open to visitors.
The new owners have retained the existing team, combining familiar faces with a refreshed concept designed to appeal to both visitors and residents. Alongside accommodation, the hotel now offers coworking facilities, a welcoming bar and breakfast area, creating a space where guests and locals alike can work, meet or relax.
Just a short walk from Port Hercule, Monaco-Ville and the train station, Hôtel de France continues to cater for a broad mix of travellers, including tourists, business visitors and regular guests returning for major events such as the Monaco Grand Prix.
The owners say their aim is to remain the Principality’s most affordable hotel whilst offering exceptional value and a warm, family-style atmosphere.
Sometimes the greatest success of a renovation lies not in what has changed, but in the character that has been preserved. The trio behind the revival have succeeded in giving the hotel a fresh future without losing sight of its past.
