The Nouveau Musée National de Monaco (NMNM) is once again inviting visitors to experience Villa Paloma after hours, combining contemporary art, panoramic views and a relaxed summer atmosphere…
Every Thursday evening in August, the museum opens free of charge from 6pm until 9pm, allowing guests to explore the exhibition dedicated to surrealist artist Victor Brauner in a quieter setting. Visitors can also discover the contemporary artworks installed throughout the gardens, including Guillaume Aubry’s Regulus, which becomes the centrepiece for a convivial aperitif featuring refreshments prepared by local restaurateurs.
The late openings offer a different perspective on the museum, with many visitors describing the informal atmosphere as an opportunity to meet new people while enjoying one of Monaco’s most spectacular viewpoints.
This Thursday’s programme continues beyond the gallery walls with an open-air screening of Memoria (2021), directed by acclaimed Thai filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul and starring Tilda Swinton and Jeanne Balibar. The film will begin at 9pm on the terrace of Villa Paloma following the evening exhibition.
The Victor Brauner exhibition remains on display until January, while the NMNM’s summer evening programme continues on August 20 with another late opening and garden aperitif. Admission is free, although registration is required for the outdoor film screening by emailing public@nmnm.mc.
