Public Security officers responded to reports of suspicious luggage near the Sporting Monte-Carlo and on Boulevard des Moulins, establishing security perimeters before bomb disposal specialists carried out controlled explosions. The items were subsequently found to be harmless.
The incidents come just days after the parcel bomb attack targeting Ukrainian businessman Vadim Ermolaev, which left three people seriously injured. Since then, security has been significantly strengthened, with the authorities adopting a zero-risk approach to any unattended object in public spaces.
In a statement issued on Thursday evening, the Public Security Directorate reminded residents that all abandoned bags and packages are automatically treated as potentially dangerous. Depending on the circumstances, this may require roads to be closed, safety cordons to be established and suspicious items to be destroyed as a precaution.
The authorities also warned that anyone responsible for leaving luggage unattended in public places could face prosecution, urging residents and visitors to remain vigilant and report any suspicious objects immediately.
