His Serene Highness Prince Albert II has appointed Frédéric Cottalorda as Minister of Finance and the Economy, with the position taking effect from April 1, 2026…

He succeeds Pierre-André Chiappori, who had held the role since March 2024. The appointment marks a continuation of Monaco’s focus on financial governance and economic strategy at a time of evolving international pressures. Cottalorda brings both public and private sector experience to the position, having previously held roles within Monaco’s financial oversight bodies before moving into advisory work linked to anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing frameworks.

More recently, he served as a special adviser within the Department of Finance and the Economy, further strengthening his understanding of the Principality’s economic priorities and regulatory environment. His profile reflects a blend of technical expertise and institutional knowledge, seen as key in navigating Monaco’s financial positioning on the global stage.

In announcing the decision, HSH Prince Albert II expressed his gratitude to Pierre-André Chiappori for his commitment and rigour during his tenure. The transition signals both continuity and renewal within one of Monaco’s most important government departments, as the Principality continues to balance economic growth with regulatory expectations.
