Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène played a central role in the closing moments of the 14th Sainte Dévote Tournament on Saturday, attending the final stages of the competition and presenting prizes at Stade Louis II…
Their presence brought extra significance to one of Monaco’s best-known youth sporting events, as Singapore claimed the title in its first appearance by defeating England in the final. The Princely Couple were joined by Princess Akiko of Mikasa, event patron Yoann Huget and Gareth Wittstock for the prize-giving ceremony, which marked the end of two days of international competition.
HSH Prince Albert II presented the winners’ trophy to Singapore, while Princess Charlène awarded the Fair Play prize to Japan. India’s Usha Hemalatha Munda was also recognised with the MVP award, highlighting the international character of a tournament that continues to attract young talent from across the world.

Beyond the final result, the event once again underlined the wider values that define the Sainte Dévote Tournament. Supported by the Princess Charlène Foundation, World Rugby and Rugby Europe, it places as much emphasis on respect, tolerance and discipline as on sporting performance. Those themes were visible throughout the weekend, from the opening parade and rugby workshops to the final ceremony.
The Monaco team also earned praise for a strong showing against high-level opposition, finishing sixth and delivering one of the standout performances of the tournament. But the final spotlight belonged to Singapore, whose debut victory gave this year’s edition a memorable finish under the eyes of Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène.
