Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Government Counsellor-Minister of Foreign Relations and Cooperation, presented her New Year wishes to members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps accredited to the Principality and based in France during a ceremony held in Paris…

The annual gathering brought together nearly one hundred diplomatic representatives whose embassies are located outside Monaco, reflecting the Principality’s extensive international network.

Hosted at the Shangri-La Hotel in the French capital, the event provided an opportunity for personal exchanges between ambassadors and senior Monegasque officials. The Minister was accompanied by Monaco’s Ambassador to France, Valérie Bruell-Melchior, as well as the Director of Diplomatic and Consular Relations, Benjamin Valli, and his deputy, Maïra Fabre. Each guest was welcomed individually before the official address.

In her remarks, Isabelle Berro-Amadeï highlighted Monaco’s growing international presence, referring to major diplomatic and cultural initiatives undertaken over the past year, including participation in global events such as the World Expo in Osaka. She then outlined the strategic priorities for 2026, a year that will see Monaco assume the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe from May to November, a role the Principality will hold for the first time since joining the organisation in 2004.

The Minister emphasised that this presidency will focus on key themes including the protection of children’s rights, the fight against violence towards women, and action against organised crime, while reinforcing dialogue between member states. For diplomats in attendance, the ceremony also served as an important forum to strengthen professional ties, exchange perspectives, and reaffirm the cooperative relationships that underpin Monaco’s foreign policy and international partnerships.
