A full-scale fire simulation exercise was carried out this week at the Princess Grace Hospital Centre, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen emergency preparedness within one of the Principality’s most sensitive sites…

The drill brought together internal CHPG teams and the Monaco firefighters in a coordinated scenario designed to replicate real-life conditions as closely as possible.

The alert was fictitious, but the intervention was treated as entirely real. It began with an emergency call reporting an unconscious person trapped in a restricted technical zone. While awaiting the arrival of firefighters, on-site safety teams immediately secured the area and activated internal procedures.

Once on scene, the firefighters assumed operational command. The simulated incident took place in a highly sensitive energy sector of the hospital, involving both a fuel tank and a gas supply system, underlining the complexity and potential risks associated with such environments. Command structures, evacuation protocols, and resource deployment were tested in real time to ensure fluid coordination between services.

Lasting approximately forty minutes, the exercise allowed emergency teams to assess their reactions, communication, and tactical responses under pressure. At the conclusion of the drill, a full operational debrief was conducted to identify both strong points and areas requiring improvement.

This type of large-scale simulation is held regularly within the Principality to ensure all responders remain fully operational and ready to act should a real emergency occur. By continuously refining procedures through realistic training, Monaco’s emergency services maintain a high level of safety for patients, medical staff, and the wider community.
