The Yacht Club de Monaco is set to open the new sailing season with the first act of the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series, one of the most closely followed events on the international J/70 circuit…

Taking place from November 6 to 9, the regatta marks the start of a series that has, since 2013, become a strategic fixture for sailors seeking competitive conditions during the winter months. Known for its reliable Mediterranean winds, the Monaco racecourse allows crews to stay sharp when most European circuits are on pause, testing their tactics, teamwork, and precision in real racing conditions.

This year’s opening event will bring together 25 teams from seven nations, with the Yacht Club de Monaco fleet — 17 boats strong — among the favourites. As reported by Globe Newswire, the Principality continues to attract international crews looking to train in Monaco’s challenging yet fair conditions, ahead of the major spring regattas. The format remains unchanged: short, back-to-back races ensuring intensity and rhythm throughout the weekend.

Defending champion Stefano Roberti returns at the helm of Piccinina, facing strong competition from Euro-Voiles, G-Spot led by Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio, Fraser Yacht helmed by Pierrik Devic, and Moonlight II skippered by Graeme Peterson. For many, this winter circuit also serves as essential preparation for the 42nd Primo Cup–Trophée UBS, founded by His Serene Highness Prince Albert II, which will take place in March 2026. The Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series once again confirms its role as an essential benchmark for international sailing, combining ambition, precision, and sporting excellence.
