The streets of Monaco provide the dramatic backdrop for A Race Against Time Monte-Carlo, the second comic book by artist Nat Bissey…
After introducing her detective hero Andrew Morrow in Cannes, Bissey now brings the private investigator to the Principality for a mystery that unfolds across its most recognisable landmarks. From Port Hercule and the Casino to the Hermitage Hotel and the Botanical Gardens, the story invites readers to rediscover Monaco through the lens of suspense.
At the centre of the plot lies a mysterious letter threatening a rally driver on the eve of competition. Morrow has only 24 hours to track down the sender—a man or woman whose identity remains hidden until the final pages. The narrative combines the old-fashioned charm of classic detective fiction with the glamour and intrigue of Monaco, a place Bissey describes as her “preferred city” after Cannes. Her pencil style deliberately evokes vintage comic traditions, while her protagonist, with red hair and sharp tailoring, is inspired by both James Bond and classic Archie characters.
The book also stands out for its bilingual presentation. Each edition is printed in French and English, making it accessible to Monaco’s diverse, international community and the many visitors who flock to the Riviera. For Bissey, this was essential: a Riviera mystery, she insists, should be open to as wide an audience as possible.
Following her debut Where Is the Palme d’Or?, which was set in Cannes, A Race Against Time Monte-Carlo confirms Andrew Morrow as a recurring figure in a series of Riviera-based adventures that blend cultural references, detective drama, and a strong sense of place.
