Monaco Telecom has issued a firm deadline to users of monaco.mc and libello.com email addresses: update your mail settings by September 15 — or lose the ability to send messages altogether.

In a move prompted by the growing wave of phishing attacks and digital threats, the Principality’s telecom provider is reinforcing the security protocols of its mail servers. The initiative affects anyone using desktop or mobile email applications (such as Outlook, Mail, or Thunderbird) to send messages via Monaco Telecom’s infrastructure.

Users must ensure their email software is correctly configured according to international security standards across all their devices. Failure to do so will result in an automatic block on outgoing emails from either personal or professional addresses linked to these domains.

To ease the process, Monaco Telecom has launched a dedicated webpage — monaco-telecom.mc/config — offering detailed step-by-step video tutorials for PC, Mac, Android, and iOS users. A built-in verification tool called “Check” allows users to confirm if their email setup is compliant with the new requirements by simply sending a test message.

Those unsure of the process can book an appointment with a digital advisor via +377 92 26 92 26, call customer service at +377 99 66 33 00, or interact with Monaco Telecom’s virtual assistant online or on WhatsApp at +377 377 10 000.

Users who rely solely on Monaco Telecom’s webmail client are exempt from the update, as their communication already runs through secure channels.

This security overhaul is part of a broader push to shield users from the increasing threats posed by email-based attacks — including identity theft, data breaches, and online account hijacking. Monaco Telecom, part-owned by the Monegasque government and Xavier Niel’s NJJ Holding, continues to position itself as a digital safety leader, having already rolled out full national 5G coverage and 10Gbps fibre across the Principality.
