As digital threats continue to evolve, Monaco’s government is taking proactive steps to support parents in navigating the ever-changing landscape of online safety…

Through a series of talks known as “Digital Wednesdays,” officials aim to raise awareness around key digital issues affecting children today. The most recent session, held at Monacotech, focused on cybersecurity and the risks posed by social media. These conferences specifically target parents of school-age children, helping them understand the complex challenges their families face in the digital world. Topics covered throughout the year have included screen time management, cyberbullying, and data protection.

Georges Gambarini from the Digital Services Department emphasized the importance of empowering parents. “The goal,” he explained, “is not to make them experts, but to help them feel more confident and informed so they can guide their children more effectively.” He acknowledged that many parents feel overwhelmed by rapid technological change but stressed that understanding basic cybersecurity habits, such as protecting devices and being cautious online, makes a significant difference.

By improving digital literacy among parents, the initiative hopes to create a ripple effect, strengthening the ability of families to deal with online risks and teaching children safer online behaviours. In a world where digital threats are increasingly part of daily life, Monaco’s “Digital Wednesdays” offer timely and vital support to families.
