Apple has unveiled a Formula 1-inspired update to Apple Maps that places Monaco in pole position, ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 TAG Heuer Grand Prix de Monaco and the upcoming release of its original film F1 The Movie…

The update introduces a custom 3D city experience that highlights Monaco’s iconic landmarks, including the Casino de Monte-Carlo, Fairmont Monte Carlo, Hôtel de Paris, and the F1 Paddock Club — all rendered in intricate detail, complete with a special moonlit glow in dark mode.

The new experience also incorporates detailed representations of the Grand Prix circuit, including track turns, grandstands, footbridges, the finish line, and 3D models of F1 cars in the pit lanes. Navigation has been enhanced with road-level views, clearly marked pedestrian crossings, turn lanes, and real-time advisories such as road closures — perfect for visitors navigating the Principality during race weekend.

As Apple senior vice president Eddy Cue explained, the update aims to give users an immersive view of Monaco whether they’re attending the race in person or watching from home. “Apple Maps is the best way to navigate and explore the world,” Cue said, calling the Monaco update “an incredible view into Monaco” ahead of the race and film release.

In tandem with the update, Apple has launched a new in-app Guide to iconic Formula 1 circuits around the world, including Monaco. The 2025 Monaco Grand Prix runs from May 23 to 25, while F1 The Movie debuts June 25.
