Monaco Friends of Israel gathered members of the community and Monegasque officials at the Novotel on Wednesday evening to commemorate the third anniversary of the October 7, 2023 attacks on Israel…

The event provided an opportunity for remembrance and reflection, bringing together a large audience three years after the attacks that marked the beginning of the latest conflict between Israel and Hamas.

The evening opened with prayers led by the rabbis of Monaco’s two synagogues, Rav Tanhoum Matusof and Rav Daniel Torgmant. Guest speaker Mathias Inbar, a journalist with international news channel i24NEWS specialising in military and security affairs, addressed the challenges facing Israel and the wider Middle East.

His presentation, entitled Iran, its proxies and Israel still engaged on several fronts: what security challenges lie ahead?, examined the regional security situation and its implications for the coming years. Among those attending were Monaco’s Director of Public Security, Eric Arella, Marc Lecourt, President of Monaco’s Association of Consuls, and National Council member Philippe Brunner.

Brunner also spoke to i24NEWS during the evening, recalling how the October 7 attacks had been commemorated within Monaco’s National Council.
