British-Cypriot businessman Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou has married his long-time partner Orla Murphy in an intimate ceremony in Monaco…
The easyJet founder and Murphy exchanged vows at Monaco City Hall on Saturday, surrounded by family and around 50 close friends. Haji-Ioannou’s sister, Klelia, and Murphy’s brother served as witnesses.
As reported by the Greek City Times, the celebrations continued with a private reception at Villa La Vigie, the historic residence overlooking the Mediterranean near the Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel. Built in 1902 by Sir William Ingram, the villa was famously a favourite home of fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who spent a decade of summers there during the 1990s.
Irish-born Murphy moved to Monaco in 2008 after studying Equine Science at the University of Limerick. She later worked for Boutsen Design, specialising in interiors for yachts and private aircraft. The couple have been together for several years and welcomed their daughter in 2018.
The wedding followed a busy week for Haji-Ioannou in the Principality. Days earlier, he hosted a charity evening attended by Prince Albert II, raising €610,000 for WWF and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation to support environmental projects in the Mediterranean.
