Monaco Telecom is strengthening its international presence through a major deal that will see its Maltese subsidiary Epic combine with telecommunications operator Melita…
Under the agreement, Melita Limited will acquire 100 per cent of Epic Communications Limited, bringing together Epic Malta’s strength in mobile services with Melita’s position in fixed broadband. The transaction marks another significant step in Monaco Telecom’s international strategy, which has expanded considerably beyond the Principality.
Since acquiring Epic Malta in 2020, Monaco Telecom has helped grow the operator into Malta’s mobile market leader, with a share of more than 42 per cent, according to the company. Alongside Epic Cyprus, the business has become an increasingly important part of the wider group.
International operations now generate more than 60 per cent of Monaco Telecom Group revenues, demonstrating the growing importance of markets outside Monaco to its business.
The Malta deal is designed to create an operator with sufficient scale to invest in the country’s future telecommunications needs, combining mobile and fixed-line expertise within one business.
Monaco Telecom CEO Martin Péronnet said the group had built a successful international strategy through Epic Malta and Cyprus, with the latest agreement paving the way for further development opportunities.
