Marine sanitation specialist Blue Marine Cleaning has established a new subsidiary in Monaco as tighter environmental regulations create growing demand for waste management services across the yachting industry…
The family business, founded in Cannes in 1991, began operating its Monegasque entity in July after being accepted into the Monaco Boost programme, as reported by Monaco Hebdo. The move is intended to strengthen its position within the Principality’s high-value yachting sector.
Blue Marine Cleaning collects wastewater, used oils, hydrocarbon-contaminated water and coolant from vessels, alongside cleaning tanks, bilges and engine rooms. It also operates pumping barges, allowing teams to service yachts at anchor or in areas inaccessible to trucks.
Owner Romain Vallauri says increasingly rigorous enforcement of marine pollution rules has helped drive the company’s growth, with ports and maritime authorities demanding greater evidence that waste has been properly collected and treated.
Traceability is becoming an important part of the business. Waste collected from vessels is sent to approved treatment facilities, whilst customers can access digital records documenting previous operations.
The company also provides emergency pollution-control services for incidents including fuel spills.
Blue Marine Cleaning currently employs five people across its operations, with Vallauri initially running the Monaco subsidiary himself as the business develops its presence in the Principality.
