A Magnum 60 motor yacht sailing under the Monegasque flag has been recovered after running aground on rocks near Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, prompting an extensive overnight operation…
As reported by Monaco-Matin, the vessel came to rest near the airport breakwater on Sunday, September 6. Images released by SNSM Cros-de-Cagnes show the powerful yacht stranded heavily on the rocks before being lifted to safety.
Rescue teams worked through the night and into Monday morning alongside technical services and specialists from lifting company Mediaco. Removing the Magnum 60 required a delicate operation involving heavy equipment and a crane, with teams working for several hours to bring the vessel ashore.
The operation was particularly sensitive because of the yacht’s proximity to Nice airport and the need to avoid disruption to air traffic.
The vessel was finally lifted from the rocks and brought ashore around midday. No injuries were reported in the information released by the rescue service.
