Marinas are no longer simply places to berth a yacht. From artificial intelligence and cybersecurity to biodiversity and decarbonisation, a rapidly changing industry will come under the spotlight in Monaco next month…
The sixth Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous takes place at the Yacht Club de Monaco on September 20 and 21, bringing together marina managers, investors, architects and industry specialists from 30 countries.
The meeting comes as more than €1 billion is being committed to marine projects worldwide, fuelled partly by growing demand for superyacht berths and increasingly sophisticated port infrastructure.
More than 30 companies have been selected for the event’s Innovation category, while around ten marinas will participate alongside architectural projects presented by professionals and students.
The opening day will tackle three immediate challenges: protecting increasingly connected marinas from cyber threats, developing new construction materials and reducing emissions from the existing yacht fleet.
Attention then turns to biodiversity, climate resilience, investment and the changing demands placed on waterfront developments. Artificial intelligence will also feature prominently, with experts examining how it could transform marina operations.
Organised by M3 Monaco, the two-day event concludes with the Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Awards, recognising ideas and projects designed to shape the next generation of marinas.
