Monaco’s tourism sector remained resilient throughout July, with hotel occupancy holding at levels comparable to the same month last year despite a challenging international backdrop, according to figures from the Monaco Government Tourist and Convention Authority…
Director Guy Antognelli said July’s performance was particularly encouraging given global uncertainty and the importance of key overseas markets during the summer season. Visitors from the United States once again topped the list of international guests, followed by France and the United Kingdom, with Italy remaining the fourth-largest market. Although arrivals from the Middle East fell by more than 10 percent, overall results remained stable, supported by a slight increase in average room rates.
While August has begun positively, Antognelli cautioned that the month is increasingly dependent on last-minute bookings, reflecting changing travel habits seen across the tourism industry. Factors such as airfares, weather conditions and international events are influencing holiday decisions much later than in previous years.
Not all sectors experienced the same trends. Restaurant performance across Monaco and the wider Côte d’Azur remains mixed and will require further analysis once complete data becomes available. By contrast, cultural attractions continue to thrive. The Grimaldi Forum’s current exhibition has already attracted more visitors than its previous two major exhibitions, while Monaco’s museums and heritage sites continue to draw strong interest.
For now, Monaco’s tourism industry can look back on a solid July, demonstrating the Principality’s enduring appeal to visitors from around the world, even as global travel patterns continue to evolve.
