Monaco’s Public Prosecutor’s Office has responded to criticism from Ukraine over the investigation into the June 29 explosion targeting Ukrainian businessman Vadim Ermolaev and his family, insisting that cooperation between the two countries is continuing…
As reported by Monaco Matin, the response follows claims by Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office that requests for judicial assistance had gone unanswered and calls for the creation of a joint investigation team.
Without directly addressing the criticism, Monaco’s prosecutors said the investigation remains active under the supervision of investigating judges and is being conducted in coordination with authorities in several countries, including Ukraine.
The prosecutor’s office said several requests for international legal assistance are being processed to allow investigators in Monaco and Ukraine to share evidence and other information. These include information relating to the identity of the woman believed to have carried out the attack, who was later found dead in Ukraine, as well as statements obtained from two suspects arrested there in connection with her death.
Monaco has also requested that officers from the Principality’s Public Security Department travel to Ukraine as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities stressed that the motive behind the attack has yet to be established and that investigators continue to pursue every possible line of inquiry.
