The Club Allemand International de Monaco dedicated its annual Grand Gala to a milestone year for Monaco-Germany relations, hosting a celebration on Wednesday, July 15 in the Salle Empire of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo to mark 75 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
The evening drew a distinguished guest list, including German comedian and cultural icon Otto Waalkes, and opened with the national anthems of both Monaco and Germany, setting a formal tone for the celebration that followed.
In his address, Club Co-President Patrick Wetzel reflected on key moments across the 75-year relationship and spoke of the Club’s long-standing role in connecting the German and Monegasque communities. He invited guests to raise a toast to the enduring friendship between the two countries, a gesture that captured the spirit of an evening built around cooperation, culture and shared history.
The gala continued with a Venetian-themed performance featuring elaborate costumes, followed by a festive tombola, live music and dancing, rounding out a night held in one of Monte-Carlo’s most storied settings. The splendour of the Salle Empire provided a fitting backdrop for a celebration marking three quarters of a century of relations built on mutual respect and shared values.
The Monaco gala followed an earlier celebration in Berlin on Friday, July 10, where a delegation from the Club Allemand International de Monaco joined the official anniversary reception hosted by the Embassy of Monaco in Germany, presenting a symbolic moss artwork to mark the occasion.
Together, the two events reflected the continued strength of the relationship between Monaco and Germany, and the Club’s ongoing role in celebrating it.
