The final day of the official visit to Spain by Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene highlighted education, innovation and sustainability, as the Princely Couple attended events marking the tenth anniversary of the Spanish branch of the Prince Albert II Foundation…

Hosted at IE University in Madrid, the programme brought together leading figures from academia, entrepreneurship and philanthropy. Prince Albert II participated in discussions focused on collaboration and innovation, meeting five recipients of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Scholarship for Sustainability. The initiative reflects the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to supporting young leaders working on environmental and social challenges.

Opening the conference Leading the Future Through Collaboration, the Sovereign emphasised that ecological transition should be viewed not as an obligation but as an opportunity for innovation, growth and reinvention. The event also featured presentations from finalists in the South Summit Global Startup Competition, showcasing projects designed to address major environmental and societal issues.

Meanwhile, Princess Charlene toured the university campus, visiting its technology, architecture and design facilities, as well as student spaces and sports infrastructure. Accompanied by university representatives and students, she gained an insight into the institution’s international approach to education and innovation.

The day concluded with a reception bringing together participants and guests, providing a fitting close to a visit that celebrated the strong ties between Monaco and Spain while placing particular emphasis on the role of education, entrepreneurship and sustainability in shaping the future.
