Monaco has renewed and strengthened its long-standing partnership with UNESCO through the signing of a new framework agreement covering the period from 2026 to 2029…
The agreement was signed at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris by Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Government Counsellor-Minister of External Relations and Cooperation, and UNESCO’s Director-General, reaffirming the Principality’s commitment as a member state since 1949.
This multi-year agreement provides greater predictability for UNESCO by guaranteeing a minimum level of financial support, allowing the organisation to plan its programmes with increased stability. According to UNESCO’s partnerships team, this long-term visibility is essential for developing ambitious projects in education, science, culture and heritage protection.
Following the signing, bilateral discussions detailed the main areas of cooperation for the coming four years. Monaco’s contributions will support a broad range of initiatives, including emergency funds, educational programmes, scholarships for young scientists and projects linked to cultural preservation and sustainable development. These actions reflect shared priorities between the Principality and UNESCO, particularly in promoting knowledge, scientific research and cultural dialogue.
Monaco’s Permanent Delegate to UNESCO underlined that this cooperation aligns closely with the Principality’s values and international engagement, strengthening its role as a reliable partner within the multilateral system. The agreement also forms part of a wider diplomatic visit to Paris, marked by meetings with the diplomatic corps and continued efforts to reinforce Monaco’s presence on the international stage through long-term, project-driven partnerships.
