This summer, the Principality’s Pass’Sport Culture programme has taken young people to new heights—quite literally…

Thanks to a partnership with the Monaco Vol à Voile association (MVV) and the Department of Youth and Sports (DJS), participants can now discover the exhilaration of gliding. The experience begins on the ground, where pilots carefully brief students on the basics of flight and familiarize them with the glider. Once strapped into the cockpit, the adventure truly begins. A tug plane accelerates down the runway, the cable tightens, and within moments the glider soars into the sky.

What follows is a unique mix of serenity and adrenaline. With the controls in hand, the young participants experience the silence of flight, the sensation of floating, and breathtaking views over the landscape. For many, it is not only their first flight but also an inspiring introduction to aviation.

The initiative has been running since 2019, offering four sessions each summer in July and August. On average, six to seven young people take part per session, and to date, nearly 170 first flights have been completed through the programme. For some, like Sacha, it is more than just a thrilling memory—it is the first step toward a dream career in aviation.

By opening the doors of the sky, the Pass’Sport Culture shows that discovery extends well beyond sports halls and playing fields. It offers Monaco’s youth a chance to push boundaries, build confidence, and taste the freedom of flight.
