Le Méridien Beach Plaza has added two new nesting shelters for mason bees, strengthening its commitment to protecting wild pollinators and enhancing local biodiversity. The project, carried out in partnership with French conservation group Les Dorloteurs d’Abeilles, marks the latest step in the hotel’s long-term environmental strategy.

The shelters—set on the rooftop and a terrace overlooking the Mediterranean—are designed for mason bees, solitary and non-aggressive pollinators known for their exceptional efficiency in fertilising fruit trees and flowering plants. While they don’t produce honey, they play a vital role in sustaining ecosystems and agricultural productivity.

This initiative builds on a series of eco-friendly measures introduced by the hotel in recent years, including insect hotels, bird nesting boxes, a rooftop herb garden, and sustainable landscaping. These efforts aim to create thriving habitats for native species while reducing the property’s environmental footprint.

Situated beside the Larvotto Marine Protected Area, the hotel’s conservation work reflects Monaco’s National Biodiversity Strategy, which focuses on preserving natural heritage through practical, locally tailored action.

The only hotel in Monaco with a private beach, Le Méridien Beach Plaza combines its environmental stewardship with luxury hospitality, offering 398 rooms and suites, a choice of dining venues, and a conference centre accommodating up to 2,000 guests.
