AS Monaco have jetted off to the UK for a week-long training camp at St. George’s Park with a 32-man squad that now includes three major new arrivals: Paul Pogba, Ansu Fati, and Eric Dier.
Head coach Adi Hütter is using the English Football Association’s national training centre—often dubbed “England’s Clairefontaine”—to prepare his side for the new season. The camp runs until Saturday and includes two friendlies, against Coventry City on Wednesday, July 16 and Nottingham Forest on Saturday, July 19.
The trio of high-profile signings didn’t feature in Friday’s 1-0 friendly win over Club Brugge, but all three will train with the team throughout the week. Dier was expected to play but was held back after a recent illness, while Pogba and Fati will be looking to build fitness and integrate into the squad.
Striker Folarin Balogun, who limped off with an ankle knock during the Brugge match, has also made the trip and is expected to take part in the camp.
The camp marks an important step in Monaco’s pre-season, as Hütter looks to blend experience with youth ahead of a campaign that promises to be as ambitious as it is demanding. With Pogba returning to Ligue 1, Fati hoping to revive his form, and Dier bringing Premier League steel to the backline, all eyes are now on how quickly this revamped Monaco squad can gel.
