AS Monaco have confirmed the arrival of Spanish international Ansu Fati, who joins the Principality club on loan from FC Barcelona for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. The deal includes an option to make the transfer permanent.
Fati, regarded as one of Spain’s most exciting young attacking talents, will bolster Monaco’s offensive options as the club looks to build on its strong recent performances in Ligue 1 and European competitions.
Born in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, on October 31, 2002, Fati relocated to Andalusia, Spain, at the age of six. His footballing journey began at CDF Herrera before moving to Sevilla FC’s youth ranks. In 2012, he was snapped up by the prestigious La Masia academy at FC Barcelona, where his prodigious ability quickly caught the eye.
Fati made his professional debut for Barcelona in August 2019, aged just 16. He wasted little time making an impact, notably becoming the youngest goalscorer in UEFA Champions League history when he netted the winner against Inter Milan at 17 years and 40 days old.
Over six seasons with Barça, Fati showcased his versatility and technical brilliance, amassing 123 appearances across all competitions, scoring 29 goals and providing eight assists. During his time at the Camp Nou, he lifted two La Liga titles (2023, 2025), two Copa del Rey trophies (2021, 2025), and two Spanish Super Cups (2023, 2025).
In search of regular playing time and top-flight experience, Fati spent the 2023-2024 season on loan with Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League, featuring in 27 matches, scoring four goals, and adding an assist to his name.
A full Spanish international since 2020, Fati has already represented his country at the highest level, including the 2022 FIFA World Cup and Spain’s victorious 2023 UEFA Nations League campaign.
Now, Fati sets his sights on making an impression in Ligue 1, bringing pace, flair, and attacking firepower to Monaco’s frontline.
His arrival marks a significant statement of intent from AS Monaco as the club continues to strengthen its squad with young, ambitious talent.
