Monaco’s sporting spirit was in full swing this week as the annual Fête des Sports took over the Cour d’Honneur at the Mairie. In a two-day celebration of effort, talent, and local pride, 885 medals were awarded to amateur athletes who distinguished themselves during the 2024–2025 season.

The festivities began on Wednesday, June 11 with the presentation of medals of distinction, recognising 460 athletes for their notable results at the regional and departmental levels. Speaking at the event, Jacques Pastor, Deputy Mayor in charge of Sports Facilities, highlighted the significance of this year’s edition, as Monaco has been named the “World Capital of Sports” for 2025. “This title reflects the richness and diversity of the major sporting events we host year after year,” he said, before signing off with a spirited “Daghe Mùnegu!”

He was joined by a host of dignitaries, including Arnaud Giusti, Head of the Sports Department; Karen Aliprendi from the National Council; and senior representatives from the Interior Ministry and Monaco’s municipal leadership.

The following day saw the spotlight shift to performance medals, awarded to athletes who achieved podium-worthy results in their disciplines. In total, 185 Bronze, 126 Silver, and 114 Gold medals were handed out.

André J. Campana, Deputy Mayor representing the Mayor, addressed the gathering alongside members of the Communal Council and distinguished guests such as Mélanie Antoinette De Massy and Yvette Lambin Berti of the Monegasque Olympic Committee. “Each of you, in your own way, has achieved something worthy of recognition,” Campana told the athletes. “Your individual and team efforts are a testament to Monaco’s vibrant sporting community.”

The Fête des Sports is part of a broader season of celebration, with additional prize-giving ceremonies scheduled throughout June, including for the Monégasque Language Competition, the École Supérieure d’Arts Plastiques – Pavillon Bosio, and the Rainier III Academy.
