In a move that could make even James Bond jealous, Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer is lighting up the Riviera’s luxury scene with the launch of the Monte-Carlo Cigar Club—an opulent retreat for cigar aficionados set to open on Wednesday, May 28 inside the storied Casino de Monte-Carlo.
The plush 200-square-metre club, a fusion of heritage and haute design, is the result of a high-end collaboration with Dominique London, a leading name in luxury cigars and spirits. Billed as one of the most exclusive establishments of its kind globally, it’s tailor-made for those who like their leisure with a twist of Havana and a splash of single malt.
Officially unveiled to VIPs on Monday, May 19 ahead of its grand opening, the Monte-Carlo Cigar Club is more than just a smoking lounge—it’s a full-blown sensory experience. Stocked with an eye-watering 35,000 cigars from Cuba, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Peru, the line-up reads like a cigar sommelier’s dream: Cohiba, Davidoff, Arturo Fuente, Montecristo, Trinidad, Partagas, and more. Membership will be mandatory to partake, although guests of Monte-Carlo’s ultra-luxurious Diamond Suites will also enjoy privileged access.
But puffing here is not a solitary affair. On-hand cigar sommeliers will craft custom pairings featuring rare spirits, from top-shelf whiskies and cognacs to the standout Iconica Havana Club rum collection. Think Gran Reserva Añejo 15 Años served beside a fine Dominican smoke—because of course. The Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo’s legendary wine cellars will also contribute an elite selection of vintages, while an elegant menu of club sandwiches and gourmet bites ensures palates stay pleased between puffs.

Award-winning design duo Bruno Moinard and Claire Bétaille have transformed the former office of François Blanc—the Casino’s original visionary—into a sanctuary of style. Tobacco-toned walls, patinated leather armchairs, and a library cloaked in Havana hues set the tone. A glowing onyx bar, a bespoke walk-in humidor by industry leader Société DeArt, and a panoramic terrace overlooking the Mediterranean round out the experience. It’s less a cigar lounge and more a temple to tobacco.
“We wanted to create something that not only honours our rich heritage but also redefines what luxury means in the world of cigars,” said Albert Manzone, Deputy CEO of Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer. “This isn’t just a venue—it’s an experience. A statement.”
Dominique Gyselinck, founder of Dominique London, echoed the sentiment: “This partnership is the realisation of a long-held dream—to offer a temple of elegance and discovery for cigar lovers in one of the world’s most refined settings.”
With this bold new venture, Monaco continues to cement its reputation as the playground of the elite. If you’ve ever dreamed of enjoying a world-class cigar while overlooking the Mediterranean with a dram of 30-year-old Scotch in hand, now’s your chance. Just don’t forget your membership card—and maybe a tux.
