The restriction, published in the latest Journal de Monaco, will apply throughout October 2 and 3, temporarily adding the State Visit to the occasions on which remotely piloted aircraft are prohibited from flying in Monegasque airspace.
The measure forms part of the security arrangements surrounding the visit and applies to remotely piloted flying devices, including drones. Monaco already operates strict rules governing unmanned aircraft, with temporary restrictions introduced when additional security precautions are required.
The visit will also have an impact at street level. Separate regulations published previously by Monaco City Hall introduce temporary restrictions on vehicle parking and the movement of vehicles and pedestrians during the President’s visit on October 2 and 3.
President Mattarella’s arrival will therefore bring a heightened security operation across both Monaco’s streets and skies. For residents, visitors and particularly recreational or professional drone operators, the message is straightforward: keep aircraft grounded throughout the two-day visit.
The restriction was approved by Minister of State Christophe Mirmand following a Government Council meeting this month.
