From 24 to 26 March 2025, a delegation of around ten companies from the Monaco Economic Board (MEB) took part in a highly productive economic mission to Budapest, deepening ties between the Principality and Hungary…

Organised in partnership with the Hungarian Export Development Agency (HEPA), and supported by the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the visit featured a tightly packed schedule of targeted meetings, forums, and networking events.

The centrepiece of the mission was a well-attended economic forum, during which each Monegasque entrepreneur was matched with at least six Hungarian counterparts, pre-selected to align with their business goals. The atmosphere was dynamic and cooperative, with business cards exchanged in abundance during a preceding networking lunch. Discussions highlighted mutual opportunities and set the stage for future collaboration across sectors.

On the same day, MEB CEO Guillaume Rose and Elek Nagy, President of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Honorary Consul of Monaco in Hungary, signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening bilateral economic cooperation. The signing was witnessed by Katalin Bihari, Deputy State Secretary of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and José-Luis Delso, Honorary Consul of Hungary in Monaco.

The Monegasque delegation was also welcomed by the French-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA), which offered insights into the Hungarian business environment and potential investment avenues. Informal moments, such as a dinner at the iconic Gundel restaurant attended by H.E. Georges Habsburg-Lorraine, Ambassador of Hungary to France and Monaco, further facilitated meaningful exchanges.

The mission follows the visit of Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó to Monaco last June, confirming the growing momentum of Monaco-Hungary relations and the shared ambition to foster cross-border business development.
