Tuiga, the flagship of the Yacht Club de Monaco, has crowned a remarkable comeback by winning its category at the 28th Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez…
The victory comes little more than a year after the historic 1909 cutter was dismasted at sea in August 2025, making its return to the top particularly significant, as reported by Monaco Matin.
Skippered by Yacht Club de Monaco vice-president Pierre Casiraghi, Tuiga secured overall victory in the Tradition category following a consistently strong week against some of the world’s finest classic yachts.
The crew brought together an extraordinary collection of sailing talent, including two-time America’s Cup winner Jimmy Spithill, Team Malizia skipper Boris Herrmann and Loïck Peyron, who joined for the final day. Rosalin Kuiper and promising young Yacht Club sailor Louise Debeaumont were also among those aboard.
Tuiga began with consecutive second places before finishing runner-up to Kismet in Thursday’s Centenary Trophy. Strong performances continued into the weekend, ultimately securing the overall category victory.
“We couldn’t have dreamed of anything better,” Casiraghi said, praising both the international sailing stars and Yacht Club members aboard.
Built by William Fife & Son in 1909, the 28.7-metre Tuiga is one of Monaco’s most recognisable maritime symbols and has served as the Yacht Club’s flagship since 1995.
