His Serene Highness Prince Albert II joined Peace and Sport on Wednesday 26 March to officially launch the 2025 #WhiteCard campaign, a global initiative that promotes peace through sport…
The ceremony took place in Monaco alongside Joël Bouzou, President and Founder of Peace and Sport, and a group of international athletes known as the “Champions for Peace.”
Held ahead of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace on 6 April, the #WhiteCard campaign calls on people around the world to post photos of themselves holding up a white card—a symbolic gesture of hope and unity. This year’s campaign draws particular attention to the 460 million children currently living in conflict zones, highlighting sport’s powerful role in fostering inclusion, education, and community rebuilding.
In his address, HSH Prince Albert II reaffirmed his support for the campaign, noting its growing impact each year. “The message is even stronger than usual,” he said, “because nearly 500 million children are affected by conflict worldwide. Sport can offer spaces of well-being and unity, even in the most difficult circumstances. It is an incredibly strong and powerful vector for peace.”
The Sovereign, who serves as patron of Peace and Sport, praised the organisation for its ongoing work and reiterated his pride in supporting the initiative. This year’s launch featured notable athletes and advocates, including Zakia Khudadadi, Marlène Nidecker, Maro Engel, Dan Luger, Kevin Crovetto, and Adrien Mare.
With participation growing each year, the #WhiteCard campaign continues to demonstrate the unifying power of sport and the importance of collective action to promote peace, particularly for the world’s most vulnerable populations.
